Congratulations to Raven D., the winner of our 2011 Hands-on Learning Contest! Raven is a 2nd Grade Teacher at Ringwood Primary Center, Ringwood IL.

Raven uses several different time teaching materials from Learning Resources in combination with lessons she created for her interactive whiteboard to engage her students. We invite you to watch her winning video entry and see some products that are on her "Wish List"!

Remember to check back in the coming weeks to view scenes from her VIP visit to the Learning Resources Corporate Office.

My goal as a teacher is to create a classroom environment where every type of learner can achieve learning success. Using many of the manipulatives that Learning Resources offer I can easily engage all of my students. In this video, you will see how my second grade ALL-STARS use many different types of manipulatives from Learning Resources that focus on telling time to quiz each other, challenge their knowledge and reinforce the skills taught. While I teach the math chapter that is focused on time, I use many items from Learning Resources that help engage my students in hands on learning. They like the different products I have because it makes learning how to tell time fun.

I also use technology in my classroom each day to create a hands-on environment where all students learn by doing. I have an interactive whiteboard in my classroom and it is a great tool to have when learning time. I have created lessons where there is a clock on the board on which the students can move the second, minute and hour hands to show the correct time.

The students in my class succeed in many different subjects because they learn by doing. I enjoy having all of the math manipulatives Learning Resources offer and have seen an enormous amount of success with my student's achievement because of it. With that being said, I know that my students have won with the experiences and knowledge they have gained using all of the time manipulatives and technology my classroom I provided them with this year because of Learning Resources products.

What will Raven purchase with her $1000 Classroom Shopping Spree? She's already come up with a few ideas!
