With almost 30 years in the classroom to her credit, Marsha Young has taught students with learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, hearing impairments and other special needs. For the past 20 years, she has taught reading to elementary students and sixth-grade literature. Marsha received an Honorable Mention for the Illinois Those Who Excel Award in 1994-1995 and was listed in Who’s Who Among American Educators in 2006. She currently teaches in the Argenta-Oreana School District in Illinois.
At a 2003 reading conference, where she was looking for kinesthetic ways to help a student who had fallen behind, Marsha discovered Reading Rods®. By incorporating Reading Rods® into her lessons, Marsha helped her struggling student make strides. Now, she uses reading manipulatives almost every day in her sixth-grade classroom. In fact, Marsha had so much success with reading manipulatives that she began sharing her experiences and techniques in presentations at reading and early childhood conferences across the country. Don’t miss your chance to attend Marsha’s workshops at upcoming conferences.
