Comments about HearAll™ Assessment Recorder:
I love to use the assessment recorder during science experiments. I am able to make sure the students are working together instead of one being the boss. Now that I have it, I couldn't live without it.

About Me Education Oriented, Teacher
This nifty product has various microphones to pick up many sounds at once. That means you can record a group at work and hear everything that is happening. I really enjoyed using the HearAll for Reader's Theater. The quality of the recordings were good for classroom use, and the device is incredibly easy to operate. I also love that it can record up to 64 tracks at one time, no matter how long they are! Here are a few ways that I am using the device in my classroom:We record group work to share on our class website. Students were very engaged and motivated when the HearAll Assessment Recorder was around!Students record themselves reading and then listen to the playback. They rate their own fluency. We can also create class audiobooks that will be transferred to the Listening Station. The HearAll Assessment Recorder improves classroom management. By providing more accountability in small groups, students stay on task and more focused.Overall, I think this product could be an asset in any classroom. I particularly like the students' awareness of fluency when they use the device. I think it would be interesting to record a student throughout the year and create a digital portfolio utilizing the HearAll Recorder. I have taught a student in the past that had Selective Mutism; this device would be ideal for assistive communication. My students were using the recorder independently with ease after a quick modeling lesson. It is very lightweight and made of plastic; it also appears to be very durable. I also like that it has built-in rechargeable batteries, and that it plugs into your USB drive. I think the price is a little steep, but I do believe that it is a good, quality product that would be helpful in any classroom.**Learning Resources sent me a HearAll Assessment Recorder to review.

Another great tool from from Learning Resources is the HearAll Assessment Recorder. This handy little device works great with groups and allows me to go back and listen to the recordings and plan what I will work on the next time I meet with the group. Hear-All Recorder: Teacher's Best Friend

About Me First grade teacher
This device has been the centerpiece of all of my assessments (small group and individual conferences) since the beginning of school. How do I use it you ask?The beginning of the year I used it to record my students reading.Recording my students allowed me to revisit anyone I had questions about, to rate them for fluency and to take a closer look at my running records. I was able to pinpoint which early strategies they had in place and which strategies we'd work on in small group and individual conferences.Weekly Fluency Grade: Starting the second half of the year I'll give my students a bi-weekly fluency grade. They will use the recorder and tape themselves reading one of our fluency passages. Then I'll go back and listen and rate them along a fluency scale.I was given this product to review but my opinions are 100% my own.

Be in more than one place at a time!?
By Mrs. Magee of First Grade Brain

I love the tag line – "Who says teachers can't be in two places at once?" Gosh, if only I could physically be in more than one place at a time…. I could get so much more done! With the hearAll Assessment Recorder I may not be able to physically be in two places but I can accomplish more than one task at a time! The hearAll is like a tape recorder without the tape. All you need to do is turn it on, hit record and it starts recording right away. Now, if you're thinking, "So…how can I use this in a classroom environment?" let me just tell you - the possibilities are endless! When I first introduced the hearAll into my classroom, I told my students that during our reading station time I wanted to make sure they were all on task. I would place the hearAll on a different table each day to see what they were discussing. My students LOVE it! They beg for the hearAll to be on their table so they can show me they are on task and following directions. Of course, that's one simple idea but there are so many more uses for the hearAll. Here are a few of my favorite ideas:Use it to record student reading conferences (track fluency and comprehension), Use it to record students reading sight words, skip counting, reciting their ABC's, etc., Use it to conduct "interviews," Use it to improve classroom management and refine your teaching practices (track positive and negative student interactions). Thanks to Learning Resources for letting me review this awesome product!
Great Resource For Differentiating
By Differentiated Kindergarten

A couple of weeks ago I received a package from the wonderful people at Learning Resources. I know I have a Christmas list with pages of their catalog dog eared with the items I'm hoping Santa will put under my Christmas tree. So you can imagine how excited I was to open up that box and find this little tiny handheld device that is essentially my little clone. . . a mini assessment ME. It's real name . . . the Hear All Assessment Recorder. This little device is not only a fabulous little recorder . . . it has saved me a ton of time and it has a ton a great uses. My kinders are very motivated to pass their sight words and, with this little device, I discovered that if I place a little green finger nail polish (yes it really comes in that color) on the first word on their sight cards that I want them to read and a red bit of polish on the last word, I can get through every and any kiddo that wants to recite their words during my short rest time. They sit down, say their name and away they go. Afterwords I can play it back and know who has passed and can move onto the next set of words. It's also great for my high fliers that are reading reading reading . . . I can set up a station just for the HEAR ALL and students can read their selected text and I play it back for them, talk about fluency and intonation and I can even save it as part of a digital record or assessment piece to share with parents. It hooks right up to your computer and downloads easy peasy. When students are 'reading to someone' as part of Daily 5, I can eaves drop in to make sure they are checking for understanding and 'coaching' each other appropriately.I even have used it for those kinders who are struggling with counting to 100 and wanting desperately to join the "100s Club" in my class. Let's face it, it takes along time to listen to 26 kids count to 100, but if I set up the Hear All, every student who wants to count to 100 gets a chance. They can count into the HEAR ALL and then follow along with the 100s chart after to see where they missed a number. Using this device has absolutley helped me meet the readiness levels of ALL my students. Thanks for a useful and practical product!
Do you hear it?
This handy little machine will allow you to document your students' learning gains like you never have before! Have you ever thought about putting together a digital portfolio for your students? If you haven't, no worries. But if you are thinking about it, this would be a wonderful tool to allow you to put the records together super easy!Reviewed on The Organized Classroom Blog 11-29-12
great tool for assessment
By Karen of PreKinders.com
About Me Pre-K teacher
The Hear All Recorder could be placed in any center in your classroom as an extra set of ears listening in on the children there. We all know preschool children learn by talking about what they're doing, so the recorder will let you listen in on those conversations. I could see it being useful in the Reading Center when children sit down with a book to "picture-read", when I'm in another area of the room.It would also be useful during small group times. I have 4 small groups going at once, with two of the groups working independently. I could place the recorder with one of the independent groups and listen in later on what took place in that group. The recording (or clips of the recording) could be added to a child's e-portfolio.Disclosure: I received a Hear All recorder from Learning Resources to review, however all opinions/statements are my own.

HearALL is a WINNER in the classroom!
from South Carolina
When this product first arrived, I was in awe of its lightweight and small size, yet it seems very durable. It is made for small children to use, as it doesn't contain any knobs or parts that could break off easily and the buttons are large and color-coded. Great design! The microphones pick up multiple voices with little background noise...perfect for our busy classroom! This device is perfect for using when my students are working in small groups for projects, reading readers' theater scripts together, and/or reading and holding book discussions in small groups. As a teacher, I often feel like I need to be in more than one place at a time and the HearALL helps me do just that! I can see if the groups I'm not meeting with were on task, working cooperatively, and what skills/strategies I need to work with them on when I do meet with them next...all by just playing back the recording of their interactions. I also love that it is so easy to transfer the recorded files to the computer. What an easy way to create podcasts or just share recordings with parents! There are many, many ways this device could be used in the classroom. My only problem is that now I need more of them! :)
