The image quality in the Luna Interactive Projection Camera is BETTER than any projection camera I've ever used. Even with half of the lights off in my classroom, the image was still clear. I love the fact that it has a USB direct plug for connecting and charging. The best feature is the video camera. Teachers can record lessons and save them to their web page for absent students. It would also be perfect for classroom Skyping. With the click of a button you can take a snapshot of student's work. It's flexible and light weight, and I wouldn't be afraid to let students use it. A few uses:1 Video Time Capsule:At the beginning of the year have students record a message to their future self. Or at the end of the year have students record a message to the new students entering your classroom next year. 2 Record Lessons for Absent Students3 Take a Picture of Student's Work:With the click of a button you can take a snapshot of student's work. How perfect would this be for bulky items like dioramas? 4 Assessment: Document student's learning and share files with specialists and parents. 5 Oral Presentations: Let students record themselves giving a presentation. Kids love to be the star of the show, and you could show the videos at Open House. I really enjoyed reviewing this product for Learning Resources!

It is very easy to install on your computer, which is great. However, it's positive aspects end there. There is no zoom feature, so you must use the bendable neck to position the camera. However, the base of the Luna is so small and light that when you position the camera close enough to a text to be readable, it falls over and will not stand on it's own. Because of the lack of a zooming feature, one cannot use it to read text unless the camera is hovering less than an inch away from the text. The focus button appears to make no difference in the image. The only thing it might be useful for is the task pictured on the website, tangrams or other large manipulatives that would not require zooming in.

Luna Is a Lifesaver!

Comments about Luna™ Interactive Projection Camera:
My Luna doc camera is the best addition to my classroom in years. As an English teacher, I teach a lot of high-level texts. As we read, I can project my notes for students to copy. We also do a lot of writing, and I can easily project samples of writing the whole class can see, which eliminates the need to make copies for every student. I use it every day in almost every class I teach. I don't know how I lived without it for so long!

I absolutely LOVE this little camera! We normally use Elmos that are housed on gigantic carts. They are a pain. Cords all over...the cart is so big it's always in the way. I no longer need to grab the gigantic cart and pray that my kiddos don't trip! This takes up a super small amount of space, plugs right into your computer, takes pictures AND video, and works just as well as our other "pricey" devices.I've used it to demonstrate reading strategies, handwriting, Project 64 (a drawing program), and plenty of games. I've also used it to take pictures of students, as well as, their work.
Fantastic Document Camera

This is an amazing tool. I was so excited that Learning Resources gave me the opportunity to try this out. All you need is a computer and a projector. Plug it in, run the disk, and you're up and running. I use it to project read alouds on the screen, math manipulatives, our anthology, making word tiles, writing samples, etc. It also has the capablity to videotape what is happening so that you can go back and look at it later. It makes learning interactive, engaging, and hands on.
The Luna is a Lovely Learning Tool!

We've been using this in my classroom and it's great! One thing I especially love about the Luna is that it has a light which makes the images so clear and bright on the screen and we love that! This little gem just pops out of the box, plugs in to your USB port, and installs easily in minutes. Then, you open the software it comes with, place something under the head, and... it's instantly projected on to your board or projection screen! You zoom in just by moving the arm closer to your document or items you are showing off. And... not only can you project objects and documents, but you can use this to record too! The best part is how affordable the Luna is! It's under $200.00 and is a great tool for the classroom!

I actually have a document camera in my classroom and I love it because there are sooooo many amazing things you can do with them! But, I must say, Learning Resources' Luna Interactive Projector is flippin' amazing! My document camera takes up way too much table space, but this little gem is small and versatile. It not only functions as a projector, but it is also a web cam and takes pictures and videos! How nifty is that!? All the while needing NO batteries! This projector is great for so many different things including:Making WordsDemonstrating handwriting and cursiveShowing books/textbooksModeling writing and other activitiesUsing manipulatives for mathDisplaying homework/classworkChecking homework/classworkDemonstrating science experimentsI can't even list them all, but you would definitely want one of these in your classroom!

Learning Resources sent me this camera to use in my first grade classroom. This is a lightweight, sleek, durable projections camera. I have even let me first graders use it and taught them how to set it up. It's so simple that they have no problems. There are many pros to this sleek projection camera and no cons that I can see! It is everything a projection camera should be. The simplicity of this piece of technology would make it a great addition to any classroom. well, this was a first for me. i know many seasoned bloggers have been asked to review a product, but this is my first time. i asked questions like "how much will it cost" and "by when do you need it returned?" and "are there other fees?" to my delight, it cost us nothing and it is ours to keep. thank you, learning resources! we received the luna interactive projection camera from learning resources to use and review. we already use my computer, an external speaker and an external monitor. i could quickly determine that this luna camera offers something different than my computer's camera. before i started using it at preschool, i read about it online. another reviewer mentioned one problem is the camera being top heavy. we experienced that too, and wanting the children to be able to move the camera, we took care of it with a bit of duct tape.:: :: :: ::things the children would like you to know that we like about the luna camera:things that are small look bigger on the screen.you are allowed to push the camera button anytime you want and the picture goes on ms. kristin's computer.you can make scenes and then take a picture so you don't forget them.you can push the light button to turn the light on and off.if you are gentle, you can move the camera.the camera is connected to something called a "neck" and that is funny.it doesn't matter how many pictures you take. *true: the first day we had the luna camera, there were over 280 pictures taken...i found them all on my desktop!the teacher can draw a picture and everyone can see it better.it feels like a movie when you read the book under the camera.it is a real camera, so you have to be careful.if the lights are off in the room, everything goes in slow motion. *true: when our classroom lights are off, there isn't enough light to see things move in "real time." making sure the lights in the room are on takes care of it!you can make things go upside down and side ways. *true: there is an option to rotate the image on the screen.:: :: ::already, the luna camera has changed our group times. the variety and flexibility it provides has enhanced looking and listening times. a bigger monitor would make this product more beneficial because the image from the camera would be bigger (that has been added to my wish list!).it has also changed work time (this is what we call "free time" or "play time" or "center time"). i have it set up all day, every day as another option for children to explore with. and explore they do. a favorite moment for one class: we put the camera over a timid turtle's box went across the room to eat snack. we would look over to the screen every now and then. sure enough, since we were across the room she peeked her head out!we are grateful for this product and highly recommend it.

I was more than happy to take a look at the "luna interactive projection camera" from Learning Resources. Cameras like these make it so easy to share relevant content in the classroom. This tool can truly take your instruction to the next level in so many situations. I use my camera on a daily basis! We use the camera to share strong samples of writing. I also use this tool to give the class a better view of math manipulatives. The luna projection camera can even take photos and video. What a great way to save activities so you can refer back to them later. We also use our camera when we're building spelling words with our letter tiles. The camera was very easy to install. Simply plug it into any available USB port and install the luna software off of the provided CD. A shortcut icon will be placed on your desktop. From there you only need to double click the luna icon to launch the camera. Pretty easy! I was able to work with this camera for several days and I must say that I really enjoyed it. It does the same job that a lot of the more expensive cameras do. But, the price is right! I also love how easy the camera was to install and use. I had it up and running within five minutes of taking it out of the box. As teachers, we are looking for tools that make our life easier. The luna interactive projection camera does just that. I can't get enough of this camera! It takes less than a minute to set up and hardly takes up any space. The video and camera features worked easily and the picture was great. Since I've gotten this camera I've used it EVERY day!
