The image quality in the Luna Interactive Projection Camera is BETTER than any projection camera I've ever used. Even with half of the lights off in my classroom, the image was still clear. I love the fact that it has a USB direct plug for connecting and charging. The best feature is the video camera. Teachers can record lessons and save them to their web page for absent students. It would also be perfect for classroom Skyping. With the click of a button you can take a snapshot of student's work. It's flexible and light weight, and I wouldn't be afraid to let students use it. A few uses:1 Video Time Capsule:At the beginning of the year have students record a message to their future self. Or at the end of the year have students record a message to the new students entering your classroom next year. 2 Record Lessons for Absent Students3 Take a Picture of Student's Work:With the click of a button you can take a snapshot of student's work. How perfect would this be for bulky items like dioramas? 4 Assessment: Document student's learning and share files with specialists and parents. 5 Oral Presentations: Let students record themselves giving a presentation. Kids love to be the star of the show, and you could show the videos at Open House. I really enjoyed reviewing this product for Learning Resources!

It is very easy to install on your computer, which is great. However, it's positive aspects end there. There is no zoom feature, so you must use the bendable neck to position the camera. However, the base of the Luna is so small and light that when you position the camera close enough to a text to be readable, it falls over and will not stand on it's own. Because of the lack of a zooming feature, one cannot use it to read text unless the camera is hovering less than an inch away from the text. The focus button appears to make no difference in the image. The only thing it might be useful for is the task pictured on the website, tangrams or other large manipulatives that would not require zooming in.

Video records upside down
By Math Teacher
I love the camera, but when I tried to make a video, it records upside down. I have tried every possible sequence of steps using the rotate button but no luck. I am very disappointed. :-(

Luna Is a Lifesaver!
from Chicago, IL
My Luna doc camera is the best addition to my classroom in years. As an English teacher, I teach a lot of high-level texts. As we read, I can project my notes for students to copy. We also do a lot of writing, and I can easily project samples of writing the whole class can see, which eliminates the need to make copies for every student. I use it every day in almost every class I teach. I don't know how I lived without it for so long!

I absolutely LOVE this little camera! We normally use Elmos that are housed on gigantic carts. They are a pain. Cords all over...the cart is so big it's always in the way. I no longer need to grab the gigantic cart and pray that my kiddos don't trip! This takes up a super small amount of space, plugs right into your computer, takes pictures AND video, and works just as well as our other "pricey" devices.I've used it to demonstrate reading strategies, handwriting, Project 64 (a drawing program), and plenty of games. I've also used it to take pictures of students, as well as, their work.
Fantastic Document Camera

This is an amazing tool. I was so excited that Learning Resources gave me the opportunity to try this out. All you need is a computer and a projector. Plug it in, run the disk, and you're up and running. I use it to project read alouds on the screen, math manipulatives, our anthology, making word tiles, writing samples, etc. It also has the capablity to videotape what is happening so that you can go back and look at it later. It makes learning interactive, engaging, and hands on.

I was excited when Learning Resources provided me with a Luna camera to use in my classroom. You will love this easy-to-use, easy-to-set up camera! The possibilities are endless. Make any activity easy for your whole group to see. Now all your students can see the book you are using for your literacy lesson. Math manipulatives are magical with the Luna. This handy little device helps you catch and keep your students' attention.
Luna Document Camera Review
from North Carolina
Learning Resources sent me a Luna Projection Cameara to try out and I was pleased with all aspects of this document camera. Traditionally document cameras are used for just that, documents. However this unit offers a great deal of flexibility when using real world objects as well. I was able to project clear, crisp images of picture books, math manupulatives and science experiments. The zoom works perfectly and the image looked great both on a screen and Interactive Whiteboard. I was also able to use this unit as a webcam with 3rd Party software and take independent images and video as well. This is a huge benefit as it makes the unit multipurpose and a central part of an interactive classroom. Set up was easy and the software installed without a problem. It is very easy to use and offers features for both the novice and advanced user. After my experience with the Luna Interactive Projection Camera in a variety of classrooms and settings it is one I would definitely recommend.
The Luna is a Lovely Learning Tool!
By Christina Bainbridge
We've been using this in my classroom and it's great! One thing I especially love about the Luna is that it has a light which makes the images so clear and bright on the screen and we love that! This little gem just pops out of the box, plugs in to your USB port, and installs easily in minutes. Then, you open the software it comes with, place something under the head, and... it's instantly projected on to your board or projection screen! You zoom in just by moving the arm closer to your document or items you are showing off. And... not only can you project objects and documents, but you can use this to record too! The best part is how affordable the Luna is! It's under $200.00 and is a great tool for the classroom!

I actually have a document camera in my classroom and I love it because there are sooooo many amazing things you can do with them! But, I must say, Learning Resources' Luna Interactive Projector is flippin' amazing! My document camera takes up way too much table space, but this little gem is small and versatile. It not only functions as a projector, but it is also a web cam and takes pictures and videos! How nifty is that!? All the while needing NO batteries! This projector is great for so many different things including:Making WordsDemonstrating handwriting and cursiveShowing books/textbooksModeling writing and other activitiesUsing manipulatives for mathDisplaying homework/classworkChecking homework/classworkDemonstrating science experimentsI can't even list them all, but you would definitely want one of these in your classroom!
