About Me Scienctist
Comments about Primary Science Hands-on Discovery Lab:
I purchased this for a small school as I'm their science committee chair. In addition to many experiments and sensory bins, I thought this would be fun. I purchased two units and secured them to a table with velcro. However, the gloves easily detach every time a child put their hands in them. The gloves were also not easy to keep clean and resulted in mold. After only a week of use, the gloves split. I was really disappointed in the quality, although I did have reservations when I purchased it. I thought they wouldn't last long, but I thought I would get more than a week out of them in a small pre-K school setting. Guess not. I would use it at home in a controlled environment, but not anywhere else.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

About Me Parent, Teacher
Kids love science! Grown-ups hate messes! With the Hands-On Discovery Lab from Learning Resources, kids can love messy science and grown-ups can breathe easier. This see-through plastic box has a removable lid for easy filling or emptying, plus rubber gloves that attach to the front side so the entire mess stays in the box. It's a fabulous idea and I love this product! My preschoolers spied the Hands-On Discovery Lab sitting on the shelf and practically came unglued waiting until all their friends arrived so they could try it out. I have so many ideas for this box and thought we'd start with something not too messy so the children could learn the rules (for example, only the teacher gets to open the lid!). I filled it with popcorn kernels and let them take turns playing with it. Then I added water to it so we could see whether popcorn kernels sink or float (the answer is: some sink, some float) and they each waited patiently for more turns to explore the water and popcorn kernels together. I love the way the gloves are attached to the box and I love that the lid actually sits inside the lip of the top of the box. The kids and I are currently working on a list of gooey combinations we want to try in the Discovery Lab. This would be an awesome holiday gift idea!Disclosure: I received this product at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Versatile Learning Experience

This product was even better than I thought, because it is so versatile. You can use it for so many different purposes. And the Discovery Lab comes with its own Activity guide that explains how to construct a worm farm, a terrarium, and a recipe for the slippery slime. The best thing about the Discovery Lab is that all the mess is contained inside, and it is very easy to clean! The Discovery Lab is one of those toys that never grows old because you can keep reinventing new purposes for it. The Discovery Lab would be perfect for a classroom as well. I found the instruction guide to be a bit difficult to understand; some of the wording in the directions was unclear.

About Me Parent
We recently had the opportunity to try out the Hands-On Discovery Lab! As soon as my boys opened the box, outside is where they headed! They immediately filled it up with rocks, dirt, worms and any bugs they could get their hands on. It started raining pretty hard and within a few minutes, our driveway was flooded. The boys sat on our back step and used the gloves to grab worms and bugs that were floating around. I love that the gloves can be changed out with caps so that the kids can create "bug homes" as they call them. Both of my boys are creative and made a really awesome dirt/rock/bug/worm home. They even made a little pond in it! Sadly, they dumped it out to start something new before I could get a picture :(Everything is easily washable with soap and water so when you make one mess inside, clean-up is quick and painless! We're going to try our hand at making some slime to play with - we've made it in the past and ended up getting it everywhere. Now we can make it and play with it without getting it all over my kitchen! This would be great for a teacher to have in the classroom for science lessons!
Awesome way to explore without the mess

This is an awesome fun toy to allow your child to explore and play without the mess. My daughter hates to get dirty so I thought this would be a great way to allow her to try new things without all the mess and fuss of having her use her hands. We decided to make home made slime (post to follow) and put it in the discovery lab. Then we placed plastic animals and shapes inside to have her search for them. As she found them she told us what each one was. It was a lot of fun and kept her busy for hoursThe Discovery Lab comes with the lab box which is made of nice clear plastic which is very easy to clean once you are done with your adventure. You receive two latex–free gloves that lock into place on the outside to insure that the mess stays in. Plus you receive a lid for the lab which is also clear, it does have air holes for if you decide to put an animal or insect into the lab. You also receive to hole covers so when the gloves are not installed you can cover the glove holes and keep the contents inside.

Super Fun For Curious Kids
By Sweet Silly Sara

I love finding toys that help my son learn by playing. As a psychology major I understand that play and learning have many benefits. Children develop many needed skills when they learn from playing, it also can help them to reach developmental milestones.Learning Resources offers many fabulous toys that make learning fun. In this review I want to share a really unique toy with you, the Hands-On Discovery Lab. This toy takes the mess out of hands on exploration and discovery. As the mother of a young boy, I know exactly how messy discovery can be. The Hands On Discovery Lab keeps experiments enclosed and clearly visible and allows your child to touch a variety of objects with no mess! You can cap the holes for the gloves and use as an observation station for viewing insects. My son really likes bugs, so this has been a great asset for me, I am not so fond of insects and the less I have to handle them the better!Or you can put just about anything messy inside that your little learner would want to touch and feel. I love that I don't have to endure as many discovery disasters now. I really like how easy to clean the Hands-On Discovery Lab is.I think this will be used much more in the coming years as the lab is very sturdy and durable. It is easy to keep clean with basic soap and water cleanings and it is a really fun item to enhance learning for your little ones. I would recommend it to parents of curious children. I think it would make a fabulous holiday gift or addition to a home school classroom. You can purchase the Hands-On Discovery Lab from Learning Resources.
Science without the Mess!
By Erin Lowmaster | Connected2Christ
The Hands on Discovery Lab was a solution to my dilemma of having to share the kitchen with my kids science experiments. This lab is really awesome and can be used for more than containing those icky sticky science projects but can be used as a observation station too!The Discovery Lab comes pretty much ready to go straight from the box. All I had to do was simply twist the non-latex glove rings into the lab structure for the specific project we were planning on doing! There are also side caps that you can use on the lab instead of you plan on doing a observation science projects instead of a hands-on one. The ventilated lid is great for anything that needs to breathe inside! The instructional activity guide that comes with the lab is very informative. It goes into to detail on how to conduct three different science projects which are as follows Working a Worm Farm, Building a Terrific Terrarium, and how to make Slippery Slime! You can do just about anything you can think up!My four year old daughter and I decided to make the Slippery Slime suggested in the activity guide. We had a blast! She really enjoyed helping me put together the ingredients we needed and then she got to play with it mess free inside the lab! The gloves fit over her hands with plenty of room for her to grow. Though it's suggested too that you can use regular household gloves too when these wear out. Clean up was a cinch too just using soap and water for the lab!One feature I wish it had was maybe a lock or some sort of tight sealfor the top of lab. That way if we decided to observe some insects or something and a tumble happened nothing would escape. Overall though, we really like the lab especially since there's promise when containing some of our science experiments that there will be no more messy clothes, dirty floor and table tops!I highly recommend Hands on Discovery Lab for any home or school classroom. It's totally fun way to observe science and get hands on without the messiness that often occurs!

Both of the gloves ripped at the seams. Used only once.
