      Kids First Science Magnet Kit

Comments about Primary Science Magnet Set:

My boys (4 and 5) are curious about everything. Now that my one is in Kindergarten he is starting to learn more about all sorts of subjects, science especially. Magnets are something that always amazed me so I admit I was just as excited to check out the Primary Science Magnet Set from Learning Resources, as my boys were!

This kit includes 14 pieces including 10 double-sided activity cards. The activity cards are both easy and challenging and some require some household objects such as water or paperclips. The set though was fun on its own for us. My boys were amazed at how the magnets would stick together one way and not the other way. I started teaching them about polar opposites, magnetism and science in general. The pieces that this kit comes with are ones that I would have never thought of using together. There is a big horsehoe magnet perfect to work little magnetic ladybugs through a maze. Ring magnets and a magnetic post are fun because you can make the magnetics float on the pole. My sons favorite though is the Snap-on Cars. You can push the cars together and watch them spin away from one another or magnetically snap them together to zoom around. This is a simple kit but fun and perfect for young learners.

This is another amazing product from Learning Resources. My 5 year old and 10 year old love it. This is a toy that comes out time and again.

There is nothing better than seeing your children playing and learning at the same time and Learning Resources has managed to achieve this with this product.

      Engauging Science Set

      By Erin from Connected2Christ

Comments about Primary Science Magnet Set:

I couldn't agree more with my kids that Science is so much fun! Now I will admit that sometimes teaching your kids all about the how's and whys of science can seem like a huge daunting task but it doesn't have to be! Why as of recently, I've been teaching my four year old daughter the wonders and ways of magnetism, thanks to a great new science activity set from Learning Resources!

First thing to know is that the Primary Science Magnet Set from Learning Resources is geared toward children ages 4-12 years old. The set comes with 10 double sided activity cards, an extremely helpful guide, and lots of other eye catching items (14 total) that have kept my daughter quite engaged in learning and exploring the many different ways magnets work.

A few of the activities we tried out where the Amazing Maze, in which the key concept was that magnets can retain their magnetic force through other objects. My daughter took the large yellow magnet in the set on moved it around underneath the leaf maze to move both of the included ladybugs! She totally was intrigued and having a lot of fun.

The next activity we did together was the Floating Magnets, in which we used the four round magnets and the long pole. This activity taught my daughter all about how magnets can attract and repel! She was very fascinated by everything that we did and has learned with the set with me during our schooling time and has enjoyed playing with it many times all on her own. My four year old loves to tinker so this set has been a wonderful educational tool in our home giving her the freedom to explore in learning all about polarity, attraction, and repulsion in fun hands on way!

I highly recommend The Primary Science Magnet Set for any home or school classroom. The set is colorful, durable, engaging, and encourages kids to be hands on in learning new things!

Comments about Primary Science Magnet Set:

Magnets are, by far, one of the most fascinating things for children to experience. The excitement of polarity seems like magic to them. This Primary Science Magnet Set by Learning Resources is a wonderfully unique magnet set.

The ladybug maze is adorable! Using the large yellow magnet or the purple magnetic post underneath the maze shows children how magnets can pull items (the ladybugs) around. Using the two cars teaches them that magnets can also push items around.

This set also comes with a set of activity cards and simple experiments to get children started. They are laminated to last through many preschool science sessions. The children absolutely loved the discs that seemed to float above each other on the purple post.

The flat magnets fit on the underside of the cars and moving the polar sides together causes one to flip around the other direction and click to the other. The surprised squeals and giggles were proof that science really is fun!

Disclosure: I received this product at no charge in exchange for my honest review.

While on the Learning Resources website looking for new toys/games for my 4 year old daughter, this one caught her eye immediately. Once we got it home, it quickly became a favorite- even for my husband & me! It is brilliantly designed, made of high quality materials & even comes with cards as an expansion tool.

What began as a lesson in magnetic poles, moved into discussion about magnetic fields, magnetization, demagnetization & beyond. Needless to say, my daughter is learning about things well beyond her years, all thanks to this toy. We couldn't be more thrilled!

So Much Fun & Very Educational

Comments about Primary Science Magnet Set:

It didn't take long for my kids to want to play with the Magnet Set ofter they saw hubby and me checking it out. I love how there are so many different fun activities you can do with this set. You are able to move little lady bugs around on the maze while moving a handle around the bottom of the maze. You are also able to put a ring on the stand then put another one and it will float above the other magnet. To the kids it was like magic. You are able to see how one way you can stack the magnets on each other, or how they will come together and get stuck really fast. You are also able to use opposite sides of the magnets to where you can move the magnets or have them float, without them ever touching. Very amazing.

All components of the set are magnetized, there is a really cool Handle magnet, that is kid friendly spin on the design of a traditional U-shaped magnet. Oddly, this was my favorite thing in the set. Something about its design screamed "cool" and "innovation". Of course, my son's favorite parts were the little magnetized cars, which can also be "magically" moved via magnet under the table.

I am really happy with the included activity cards, as they are really interesting. There are a lot of really cool suggestions that you can try and be amazed by. The ideas on the activity cards will help you think of even more creative ideas. The kids have had so much fun testing this and that. I feel they have learned a lot about how magnets work, the pull they have and gravity. This would be great for any classroom, or at home to teach your little ones

Comments about Primary Science Magnet Set:

            {I reviewed this product for Learning Resources on my blog.}

This 14-piece magnet set also comes with 10 cards, which are already laminated and sturdy for student use year after year. The cards are 2-sided and in color. One side lists the materials they will need with the pictures (love that), and the other is a step-by-step direction of how to do the activity.

The last questions on the cards involve some higher order thinking skills and additional activity suggestions with the materials. Some of the cards even have some "Did you know?" trivia facts about magnets on them as well.

Here is one of the activities that involved mysterious floating magnets, which would be an awesome discussion for poles, attraction, and repelling.

You can create different patterns to encourage the scientific method too by having students hypothesize, test, and document the results in a science journal!

Another activity includes little plastic cars, which have clips on the side to clip the bar magnets right into the plastic car mold. From there, the cars can come together bumper to bumper, but if like poles are nearby, one car spins out! I can see some boys (and girls, of course too) who would L-O-V-E to play learn with these manipulatives!

Definitely a hit!! Fun and Educational!

Comments about Primary Science Magnet Set:

We had so much fun playing with the Primary Science Magnet Set. My 5, 3 and 1.5 year old boys were all thoroughly interested and wanted to try all the activities. We started with the ladybug maze where you use one magnet below the maze and try to guide him through using the magnet. We came back to this game later and "hid" magnets in the maze that the ladybug had to "find" and collect to while moving through the race. Next, we used the bar magnets below the two plastic cars and made the cars spin and repel from each other and then "crash" into each other when the magnets would attract. Then, my son discovered the round ring magnets that would slide onto the pole magnet and that he could make them float and actually jump and spring off the end of the post because the magnet pull to repel away from each other was so strong! We then pulled out paper clips and tested how many clips each of the magnets could hold up. The included activity cards give lots of great suggestions but we easily came up with more or adaptations to the suggestions as well for even more play. This set was an absolute hit with my boys!

Disclosure: I received this set for free to review on my website A Mom's Take. Opinions above are my own.
