These are great! I think these will be awesome on long car drives to visit our family! All you need is the cards and hot dots pen! My daughter in 1st grade can do these as well as my preschooler. Covers a wide age range!

Fun learning tool

About Me Parent Of Two Or More Children
I think these cards are great for my 4.5yo. She understands patterns so it's great for her to know those answers, and the sequence sides give her something new to work on. I am intending to buy her another set of cards for her birthday. It's not something she uses every day, but she does enjoy them. They are portable (she even fits the pen in the box). It's great to have a different medium for learning other than computers, shows, and worksheets.

Great for Preschoolers !These patterning cards are great for ages 3-5. (You need to buy the pen separately though!) My 4 1/2 yr old enjoys doing school with these and will do 5 at a sitting. Great, colorful product!

About Me Parent Of Multiples (Twins etc)
This is one of my favorite Hot Dots sets. Although I wish it came with the required Hot Dots pen, this Hot Dots Jr. patterns and sequencing is an excellent learning tool. 36 coated cardstock cards arrived in an hard cardboard box with velcro closure and fabric carrying handle for long term use and abuse by the suggested pre-k aged children. Each double sided card comes with a sequencing or pattern equation on top and a choice of 3 possible answers on the bottom. Next to each possible solution there is a black dot. When the Hot Dots pen (NOT included) is placed on the dot, it will tell the child if they have the correct or incorrect answer. This set is excellent for reinforcing both pattern and sequencing concepts and I would recommend it to both parents and therapists. The 3yo enjoyed the pens feedback when using although some cards were a bit difficult for him. The 6yo enjoyed it a lot and was able to answer most cards with each. I even used the sequencing cards with my 8yo to help with comprehension and storytelling. An excellent, well made educational tool.I received this item for review but all opinions are my own.
Great Learning Toy

About Me Education Oriented, Parent Of Two Or More Children, Working Parent
Great interactive learning toy for my 4 year old son. He has the cat books and loved doing the cards this time around. I love that the cat from the books works with the cards as well as the dog works with the cat books. He enjoyed the cards and I felt he was challenged as well. The carrying case was great to travel with and the pen fit in the box so everything stayed together nicely.
Excellent product for both home and school
About Me Education Oriented, Working Parent
I recently received these Hot Dots Sequencing cards in exchange for an honest review. I've been using them for several weeks in my job as an SLP and my preschool clients love them! There is a range of skill level, from basic ABABAB patterns up to AABAAB and ABCABC patterns, and also basic sequencing groups, in terms of what comes first, what comes next, etc. within groups of three story pictures. I also use the pictures to work on vocabulary, categorizing and basic narratives. My clients find the pictures engaging, and we use the cards both with and without the pen. With the pen, these cards would be a great activity for traveling in a car or airplane too. They have a carrying case with a nice closure too so the cards don't spill out.

My 3.5 year old son really enjoyed the cards and the pen. It's a great learning toy and he got a kick out of the talking pen. I think the price point is fair as well.

Would be great but...
About Me First Time Parent
I would love to say that we like this product. The idea is perfect and easy to understand the product BUT there's a major flaw. The product isn't accurate at all times. Even if you know the correct answer (adult) and use the pen as precise as possible you still get the error message. When retrying several times I finally get a correct answer (green light). I bought this for my special needs child but havn't given it to him since it's too complicated to hold the pen exactly correct to get a reading and when you get the reading it's not certain it's the correct answer. For an older child, or a child that will understand instructions it will possible be a great product. Unfortunately not for us, it's a pity because I really think it would work great if the quality or accuracy was higher.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Merchant response: This issue has been addressed by our QA team and an updated pen has been designed for launch Januarly 2012.
Great for Pre-K!
By Mom and More
About Me Parent
The cards are both simple and complex so they can grow with your child. For example there are cards where you have to complete the sequence of a boy dropping a plate, seeing it in two pieces and then gluing it back together – the first spot is blank and you have to choose the boy dropping a plate out of the three choices. It is relatively easy from the choices but it does make kids think. Then there are shapes and patterns to complete. My boys are 3 and 4 and while many of the cards are a little hard for them they are picking up quickly. The whole patterns and sequencing set great though for Pre-K as my boys are just learning that in preschool now. So I am hoping they will be ahead if not at least in line with the rest of the class. Hot Dots really are a fun yet educational product for kids. I also love how the Patterns and Sequencing set comes in a nice cardboard box with handle to take with you on the go! You can then fill it with other Hot Dot card sets or stick the Hot Dot pen in it! Overall, I really like the Hot Dots concept and will be adding to our collection!
