Still playing every day!
Comments about Learning Resources Jumbo Safari Counters, Set of 30:
My 2 year old still uses these every single day, even after months of having them. She Sorts them by animal, color, counts them, stacks them on top of her blocks, puts them on her fingers and talks about them all the time. The baby now loves to chew on them.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great for Preschoolers
By Second Time Around
from Salt Lake City, UT
We have had a lot of fun with sorting the animals, learning easy addition and subtraction, learning colors, and of course counting. I really like the size of the animals, they measure a little over 2 inches high and are perfect for little hands. They are hollowed out so you can use them as finger puppet too! That is a lot of fun and Tobin especially loves that. He has had lots of fun playing with them! There are 30 Jumbo Safari Counters that come in a plastic bucket which is great for storing them. There are 5 animals: giraffe, elephant, lion, gorilla, and rhino. They come in 6 bright colors so it's perfect for sorting, counting, and other early math skills. These counters are great for preschoolers and kindergartners. I would recommend them! **I received the product to review free of charge in order to do an honest review. No other compensation was received and my thoughts are 100% my own.**
Educational and Fun
from Beaumont, CA
These are great because they can help your little one learn to count, sort and identify colors with chunky animals! I also loved to have her match up the animals, make that animals sound and identify the animal. They are the perfect size for small hands, I also loved that they are hollowed out so you can use them as finger puppets if you would like. My daughter started doing that almost immediately. This set includes 5 different animals each in 6 bright colors. The animals include the giraffe, elephant, lion, gorilla and rhino. I also liked the fact that they came in a storage bucket so you can store them in the bucket and always have them together. In addition you also receive a little Activity Guide with some fun things that you can do with the counters.Overall I am very happy with the quality of the product and the great detail that each of the animals has. My favorite was the lion however my daughter loved the elephant and gorilla.

By Mama Harper

My 2 and 4 year old had a blast playing with their Jumbo Safari Counters and I love that they came with their own storage container. We practiced colors, counting, matching, patterns and as they get older these will be perfect for working on adding and subtracting. Plus they love to use them as finger puppets too!!

Great option for preschoolers!
By Stuff Parents Need
from Chattanooga, TN
I love the jumbo safari counters! They are perfect for sorting (by color or by animal), for teaching basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction), and even for setting up playscapes. They are very durable and not too small. I highly recommend them for a classroom or a playroom!
Great Set for Creative Play!
By Shelly H. - Two Classy Chics
We received this set for our 3 1/2 year old grand daughter who is really into anything related to animals and zoos. We have been using the set to talk to her about conservation and teaching her facts about each animal. She is great at counting and sorting.Since they are made of hard durable plastic, she also uses them as tub toys which is fun for her!
Speech Path's Opinion
By SLP Jenna
When I think about collecting baseline data in preschool, I start with what materials to grab. This week I used my iPad, one book and my Jumbo Safari Counters from Learning Resources. You might think these manipulatives are just for math concepts but they have a ton of uses for SLP's too! Learning Resources provided me with the Safari Counters to complete this review but the opinions are solely mine and no other compensation was provided. The Jumbo Safari Counters come in a storage bucket and include 6 colors of giraffe, elephant, lion, gorilla, and rhino. These were perfect for gathering baseline because I could use them in so many ways! Here's the rundown of how I used them.-Sorting (by color and animal)- Classification (we talked about which animals are safari animals and named other animals that were not)- Plurals (receptive: Give me lions expressive: What do you see? I see three lions.)-Vocabulary (most of my kids couldn't name rhino!)-Verbs (we did lots of playing with our animals! run, jump, hop, fall, eat)-WH questions (Who has a long neck? Why do gorillas have long arms?)-Body parts (One of my little guys has a goal for this! We found our eyes then the eyes of the animals.)-Basic Concepts (temporal and spatial concepts. ie: Who is under the desk?)-Pronouns (the inside of the animals are hollow – we used them as puppet to work on I/Me)-Following Directions (both giving and following single and multistep directions of varying complexity)-Comparative/Superlative (tall, taller, tallest)The possibilities are endless with these animals! That list is just what I used them for in two days of baseline data collection! One other benefit I want to add is the size of the counters. If you're working with children who have fine motor difficulties, the larger size will be helpful!
Kindergarten Teacher Approved
By The Bragging Mommy Nicole
I am a Kindergarten teacher. In school, counters are one of my best friends. I use them like crazy in teaching math. I use counters to help with sorting, counting, patterning, and much more. I am always looking for new, fun counters. I was so excited to receive the Jumbo Safari Counters from Learning Resources.I am in love with these counters. I love that they are big counters. This makes it easier for my students to see me using them during large group time. The large size also helps the students move and manipulate the counters with more ease. I also like that the counters have a hole in the middle so you can use them like puppets. This way when we count at school, I can put them onto my fingers. I love how brightly colored these counters are. I am loving the wild animal shapes. I have dinosaur counters and bear counters but it is so fun now to have wild animals in my counter collection. The Learning Resources Jumbo Safari Counters would be a fabulous learning tool to have in your home. It will definitely help you with teaching counting and other early math skills. I definitely recommend them!I received these from Learning Resources for this review.
Perfect for Mixed Ages to Play Together
By Planet Weidknecht
from Pflugerville, Texas
Working with toddlers and preschoolers means counting often. We count each other, we count fingers, we count snack plates, and well, we count pretty much everything around here. One of the things I've always wanted for my mixed age classroom is a set of counters. I've seen some bear counters, but they are much too small in size for my age group and I have to be aware of choking hazards. This new set of 30 Jumbo Safari Counters from Learning Resources is the perfect solution! Each one measures over two inches tall and there are five different animals in six bright colors. We've been using them to sort by color and by animal. We've been counting by ones, twos and fives. We've even used them as measuring units to see how many "giraffes" long and how many "rhinos" long the big books are in our classroom. Open-ended learning materials can be so much fun! The Jumbo Safari Counters have been a great launching point for a safari preschool theme too. We spent time on each animal, learning about their habitat and eating habits. The best part of all is that my preschoolers and toddlers can both use these counters with no worries for me about safety. I received this product at no charge in exchange for my honest review.
Great for Small Hands and Sorting!
from Racine, WI
School is starting again and this year I am focusing on learning activities that my son would do in preschool! As a previous Assistant Preschool Teacher, I know we did a lot of sorting with various objects, animals and shapes!I didn't have any great objects to have my son sort with until Learning Resources provided me with the great Jumbo Safari Counters! Since my son loves jungle animals and safari themes, I knew he WOULD LOVE these!!And I was so right!! He literally plays with these everyday and loves to pretend with them, sort them and stick them all over the house in random places!!These Jumbo Safari Counters are perfect for ages 2-5 and really help children learn to count, sort and identify colors with chunky animals!I love the size of the Safari Counters because they are the perfect size for small hands! They can even be used as finger puppets too because they are hollowed out in the middle! The set includes 5 animals in 6 bright colors: giraffe, elephant, lion, gorilla, rhino and they come in a great storage bucket so my son doesn't lose them or misplace them all over the house! If you are looking to do educational activities at home with your toddler, definitely have them practice sorting with these Jumbo Safari Counters!Disclosure - This product was given for review for my honest opinion. No other compensation was given.
