Comments about Primary Science Color Mixing Set:

My 6 year old son loves science and he has had so much fun with everything inside this kit. The kaleidoscope is a lot of fun and allows him to experiment with mixing colors. He especially loves the Color Mixing Glasses! It allows him to see the world in a different color.

The activity cards allow you to get the most out of this kit. They have a variety of activities and experiments to choose from. They tell you exactly what tools and other products you will need to do that activity/experiment. It tells you the key concept of what you will be learning (so this is really great for schools and homeschooling as well as just for fun) as well as step-by-step instructions. My son's favorite activity card was the Making Candy Paint. We took some M&M's and sorted the candies by color. Then we put 10 candies in each test tube and used the dropper to squirt water into each test tube. We then put the lids on and gently shook the water until it turned into a color. Then he was able to pain with the colored candy water. My son has got a lot of use out of this set and it has really helped him with his colors and experimenting with colors.

**I did receive a free sample in order to do an honest review, however it in no way influenced my review.**

Comments about Primary Science Color Mixing Set:

I was asked to review this item for my blog and it is an awesome product for the classroom!

I love that the cards show actual pictures of the materials needed right on the front in color, along with a quick list of extras. At the bottom of each card is a "Key Concept" which you are then able to tie to learning objectives. Who said learning can't be fun and educational at the same time?

On the back of the card, the directions are numbers, concise, and clear.

All the activities are fun - and involve understanding primary and secondary colors - and how they mix. All the art teachers out there could even use this fun set for lessons!

The age range listed is for 3 and up, though I can see upper elementary students using the set as well to practice the scientific method, discussing how to use scientific tools, and following directions. Fun for all!

Thank you Learning Resources for providing me with a Primary Science Color Mixing Set, free of charge, for review on my blog Ahh~Mazing Reviews. These are my own honest opinions.

I'm always on the lookout for fun educational toys for my son, and Learning Resources is one of my favorite places to find them! They recently sent us their Primary Science Color Mixing Set. my son has never had any kind of science set before, so he was really excited to get this set!

The Primary Science Color Mixing Set has everything you need to teach your colors about how primary colors mix together to make other colors, except for the food coloring and water. It has fun activities like a spinning top which you place different cards on and spin, to show how 2 colors on the card will mix when spun to make another color. It also has cool glasses with plastic lenses in different colors. Put two lenses in it together to show how they mix to make other colors.

my son's favorite part was mixing colors with the included test tubes. There is a stand that holds 3 test tubes and a dropper. They filled the test tubes half full of water, then added food coloring to show how colors mix together. The test tubes have lids so they can be shaken up to mix the colors well.

My son has had so much fun with this color mixing set, that he asks to play with it every single day! I love that he is having fun with such an educational toy! I am sure he wouldn't learn about color mixing until later on in school. He hasn't started kindergarten yet, but he can already tell you what the primary colors are, and what colors they can mix to make!

*Thanks to Learning Resources for providing us with this product for review.

This is far and wide, my favorite product from Learning Resources yet. My kids {3 and 21 months} have so much fun with this. They play with it almost every day. The glasses are amazing {and flexible so bending them backwards doesn't break them}. Adding in two colors is a blast for my 3 year old. My 1 year old loves to hold the colors up to his eyes and look through them. They both LOVE the test tubes and dropper. They have so much fun taking turns mixing colors and experimenting with it. There are so many ways to use this product and keep the learning going. They hit it out of the park with this product.

Comments about Primary Science Color Mixing Set:

The Color Mixing Set from Learning Resources is a great Science Starter Set. All of the pieces feel well made, sturdy, and perfect for children. From our 3 year old all the way up to our 9 year old, the kids had a blast experimenting and learning with this set.

I like the variety included. For a short lesson/experiment, we take out the clean and dry parts and on other days, we get down and dirty with the test tubes, water, food coloring, and eye dropper. We love the options.

The only thing I'd love to see included is some pictures of steps on some of the "harder" experiments. There was one in particular that we couldn't get to work. No matter how we rolled the paper towel, we couldn't get the water to travel up it and into the middle test tube to mix colors. I imagine it is user error but without a photo of how to specifically roll the paper towel, we can't be sure.

Otherwise, awesome starter set. *I received a sample in exchange for my honest blog review.

Comments about Primary Science Color Mixing Set:

This has to be one of the coolest toys/educational sets we've gotten for our little men (4 and 5 years old). I was pleasantly surprised to open the box and find durable, quality pieces, in just the right sizes for little hands. The starter experiment cards vary from basic fun (mixing colors) to involved, messy fun (volcanoes); to longer-time experiments (growing seeds). The cards are large and easy to read, with some nice pictures to help kids follow along the instructions. The materials and experiments are complicated enough that a preschooler probably wouldn't be able to do them on their own, but I imagine older (reading) children could do well with the more basic activities. We've already tried out several of the ideas, and had a great time. I can also imagine doing many more fun science things when we've finished the included cards, I think the great tools in this set will serve us well for many years.

The pieces are much bigger than we pictured, but great for little hands. Experiment cards are as big as a piece of standard paper and laminated. Box is sturdy for storage and repeat use. There is also science content listed on each card, nice bonus.

The experiments it comes with are generally easy to do with stuff laying around the house. I had to hit the grocery store for a few of the things that we would need. Sure, you could do the same stuff with some ideas from the internet and some of your own kitchen containers, but the durability of the set, combined with the fact that it makes a great bath toy, has not only caused us to really fall in love with this set, but to also gift it to others 3 times now. Any child ages 2-5 would probably enjoy this product and learn something while they play as well. Plus getting kids interested in science at a young age can carry over into success in school later as well as a possible career in the sciences.

                  Primary and Secondary Color Learning!

                  Pros

                    Cons

                      Best Uses

Comments about Primary Science Color Mixing Set:

The Primary Science Color Mixing Set has been my families favorite newly released product by Learning Resources this year. I will continue to state to anyone that there's nothing better than learning hands on (especially when it comes to my kids)! This set has made a great impact on my 3 and 5 year son & daughter. Their interest in colors all around them has peaked. They've been going around wondering what would happen if you mixed this or that color together to see what the end result would be. It's truly a fabulous art & science set all combined into one! And if you ask me, it doesn't get any better for learning and teaching preschool to kindergarten aged children about primary and secondary colors than with the aid of this set!

This set provides a lot of different ways to learn about colors! There are ten double-sided activity cards and a guide that is super easy to follow in how you can use this set. We haven't done all the activities but I am sure we'll do them soon. Though this set comes with many different items to aid in learning as well as teaching, for some of the activity suggestions, you'll need to get a few extra things. For us, we made sure to pick up some food coloring dye as well as paint brushes and card stock for some of the projects. Other items to add to the fun and learning experience include a carnation flower, extra things to observe in the kaleidoscope, candy-coated chocolate, and few other things. Most things I imagine that many people will already have on hand and not have to make an extra trip to the store.

What you'll find to use in this set includes a customizable kaleidoscope with color chips, spinning top with interchangeable color mixing discs, a 6-piece translucent color wheel, Color Mixing Glasses with 6 lenses, and 3 test tubes with lids and a dropper in a stand. Each of the items are eye catching and just the right size for children ages around 3-6 years old. I found everything to be easy to use and pretty durable except for the Kaleidoscope. Unfortunately for my kids and even for me the Kaleidoscope seemed rather difficult to twist to change the design seen on the inside. Other than that con, the rest of the set has been working out great!

My kids really enjoy using this set. I asked what their favorite activity we've done was and they told me all of them! They've both spent hours since we've got this set playing and learning about colors. I would have to say the smiles couldn't be removed off their faces particular when they looked through the Color Mixing Glasses & when they used the the dropper and test tubes to make new colors and in turn use those colors as water paints! They even took turns really well using the test tubes and droppers but I would recommend perhaps if you used this set with more than one child another set of tubes and a dropper so they can have free range without having to wait their turn. Also another fun activity they really liked was the using the spinning top and the color mixing discs. You simply place the desired disk onto the top and spin and it displays when spun what color say blue and red make. Purple! Everything was so much fun, I know when I was a child I would have really enjoyed this set too.

My daughter has special needs and can sometimes have problems with identifying colors and what colors make when mixed together. This set was great for her. Not only does she learn a lot, she has fun doing it.
