By linking together rods, children are taught initial and final consonant sounds and blends, short and long vowel word families, related spelling patterns and how to build and group rhyming words. Kit includes set of 90 Reading Rods® in a convenient storage tub (LER 7106), 24 double-sided Activity Cards (LER 7110), 4 activity trays (LER 7130) and a 48-page Instruction & Activity Book (LER 7114) with lesson plans, blackline masters and over 100 full-color demonstration cards. Color-coded rods include consonants, beginning blends, and two-, three- and four-letter word families. Use with 1–4 students. Aligned with Put Reading First and Title I of No Child Left Behind.
