Comments about Take 10! Count 'em Up Family Fun:

My children received a set of Take 10 counters. We got the Count Em Up Family Fun game. I was excited about this game because it can be played quickly. Since my son was born, I feel like it is hard for me to find the time to work with my daughter and spend the quality time together that we used to. Sometimes we only have a short time to take advantage of while her little brother is napping or otherwise occupied. So the Take 10 counters are perfect for a few minutes of meaningful interaction that we are able to squeeze in. Parents have the option of several different skill sets to focus on.
The other great thing about this game is that it's very portable. It can be easily taken on a trip, or to a friend's house for a play date, or to grandma's house for a sleepover. The game itself is small and lightweight, yet it has many variations that can keep your child entertained. The quick game play is nice for children who do not yet have the attention span for longer board games. The instructions are very simple to understand for young children. The Count Em Up Family Fun game is easy to clean up and store in its tub. It's nice that the counters can be used for more simple play for younger kids, and then adapt them to a more advanced task for older siblings.
In the first game we played, the object of the game is to collect each member of the family in a different color. This is perfect for working with my two year old son on learning the names of the colors. I love the family counters because they are so cute and enticing for children. The counters are colorful, durable, and easy to manipulate. My five year old daughter was excited to see that there were even counters to represent the pets in our family.
My daughter enjoyed a counting variation of this game. In this version, she would roll the number dice and depending on which number it landed on, she would collect that amount of family member counters (in any color). For this game, children can either continue collecting until they reach ten family members, or another variation would be to have them try to build their own family. This game is great for my kids because my daughter doesn't get frustrated with my two year old son when he tries to participate, which is the problem we have with many board games that we own. She feels like a big kid teaching him to count out the family members one by one to help him work on his counting skills.
