Comments about Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie:

A surprise hit with preschoolers, who will sit for the longest time sorting from one side to the other. The tongs are the draw (would recommend getting a metal set, the plastic ones aren't as sturdy), and the lovely tactile quality of the fruit. Definitely choking hazard, so wouldn't use with the youngest set without supervision. I love that you can sort by color, by type of fruit, or by number. Our set has lasted eight months of daily continuous play in an institutional setting with only one broken tong.

Comments about Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie:

I purchased this product to use with my children. As a teacher, I love that this toy is fun, but very educational. My older daughter can use the sorting pie with the sorting cards, like intended. My younger daughters love all the little pieces of fruit too and can sort them into colored sorting bowls. We keep this toy stored in the box on a shelf so we do not have to worry about keeping track of all the fruit.

Comments about Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie:

My twin boys enjoy sorting the fruits. The tweezers seem a little too big for their hands, but I think it makes it a little more challenging for them and I like it. One of my boys is falling behind with his fine motor skills, his fingers are very weak. I purchased this toy in hope to strengthen his fingers and grip. He gets frustrated sometimes because his hands are so tiny and he has a very hard time picking up bananas and green beens, but I still keep incuriging him to try again. I don't keep this toy just laying around and I take it out to play 2-3 times a week in hope that they will not get bored with it too fast. We had this toy for may be 3 weeks or so and I already see that my boys got much better at picking up fruit and being able to hold it for a longer time. Very good toy to improve fine motor skills and strengthen the fingers.

Comments about Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie:

I first saw this toy at a kids' group I take my 2 year old to. There were 4 or 5 kids all trying to play with it at once - they all loved it! So I decided to purchase this toy for my daughter. My two daughters and I enjoy playing with the pie together, sorting it in all sorts of ways. I like to use it with my 6 year old and get her to create patterns with the colours and types of fruit.

Comments about Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie:

I love this sorting pie! The size, quality and detail of the fruit pieces are fantastic. This "game" is a big hit with both my 3 year old daughter and her 6 year old cousin. Unfortunately, a care-giver thought it would it be a good idea to let them play with the fruit in a water table but didn't dry the pieces before returning them to the pie pan. Consequently, the sorting cards stored in the bottom of the pan were ruined. Is there any way I can get replacement cards?

Comments about Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie:

The quality of this is fantastic and the learning potential huge.

The set comes with the pie itself, a removable inner part with 5 compartments, a lid, two tweezers, 60 fruits in 5 colours and 3 reversible inserts. The idea is that you sort the fruits by number, colour or type using the tweezers which are great for improving fine motor control and finger strength.

Comments about Learning Resources Super Sorting Pie:

Math, to me, sometimes can be a bit boring, and there is only so long that you can keep counting on your fingers until you run out, even when you use the entire families hands!! The Super Sorting Pie can become so many different learning tools for us- I just love it!
My favorite way to use it as a teacher is using it as a math manipulative. My daughter can use the pieces of fruit to add and subtract- it makes the numbers even more real when she sees me adding 2 bananas and 3 grapes. She just "gets it" a whole lot easier!! For my 3 year old, she uses it more as a pretend play item- making me fruit pies and trying to sell them to me, which I think is adorable, but she also is learning patterns, sorting, and number sense as well. Using the fruit pieces she can do very simple math – which I think is huge for a 3 year old!! The activity cards allow them to play several different engaging and educational games. This is one toy in our home that definitely is getting used daily, for play and for school

My son has Asperger's, and this toy is great for helping to develop his lacking fine motor skills. The tweezers are the perfect size and strength for small hands and the pieces are the appropriate size for picking up. It is great for introducing basic math and even helps to introduce simple fractions to younger children and is great with practicing more complex fractions with older children. This is also very sturdy, brightly colored, and unlike most of its sort (pun intended). Great product from a great company.
