Comments about Under the Sea Shells™ Word Problem Activity Set:

Under the Sea Shells Word Problem Activity Set helps to bring word problems to life. It makes them more concrete. It has 4 clam shells and 80 counters in the shapes of crabs and sea stars. This set is a great way to practice addition, subtraction, and finding the missing number. The set also includes 40 double-sided word problem cards, 80 word problems in all. The word problems come in 3 different difficulty levels. It is for 1st grade and up and 1-4 players can play at a time.

I used this with my 6 year old son. Having the actual items it was so much easier then just thinking in his head. Although I was happy to see that he would try it in his head and counting on his fingers first and then check it with the counters. Since he will not have the counters while doing word problems at school he needs to know how to do it without them.

I really do like this activity set. It relates to what He is doing in school now. It helps to make the word problems more visual. We are using them just for Jayden, but I like that it can be used with up to 4 children. So it can be used in a classroom or with a family with multiple children at similar levels.

I was provided this in exchange for an honest review on my blog.

This is an amazing set for helping with word problems. Fun, colorful characters and pieces will get your child excited to figure out how many apples are left when Mary eats 3 and Luke hides 4 from the pile of 12.
Learning made fun. I love this product.

Comments about Under the Sea Shells™ Word Problem Activity Set:

I have tried out lots of Learning Resources products, but this is one of the best! It's simple, easy to use, and fun for kids. I love that my 3rd grader can use it to strenghten his word problem skills, and my Kindergartener is going to be able to use it soon also. It makes word problems come alive, which is great when you have a kinestheic learner.

We got this game to give to our 5 year old grand daughter. We travel a lot & take her with us from time to time. Recently we took the game with us down to the beach house as we like compact games to take along. This game is perfect for that.

We had a lot of fun playing the game and I love that it is teaching her important skills in a fun way. Besides being fun...it is super cute too!

              Fun and Educational

Comments about Under the Sea Shells™ Word Problem Activity Set:

I want to introduce you to the Under the Sea Shells game from Learning Resources. This is a game geared towards children 6 years of age and up. It is perfect for first grade and above. I have a first grader and thrid grader and I thought that the level was great for them. The game incorporates math word problems with fun sea creatures. This helps your child on their math skills, but also reading. I think many people fear word problems, but this makes doing word problems fun! It is a hands on way to teach word problems too. The game works by picking a card. The cards have math word problems on them. You use the sea creature themed counters to help your child visualize the problem. The problems include both addition and subtraction problems.

What did my kids think? They loved it. My first grader needed a little help from myself or my third grader on the reading portion. However, this is a great way to strengthen her reading skills. The math portion is fun. They both enjoyed using the crabs and starfish to count out the answer. Do you have a child that would enjoy playing this game? You can learn more about it or order by visiting the Learning Resources website. The game retails for $29.99. This would also be a great game to have in the classroom.

The Under The Sea Shells word problem activity kit is a great way to naturally introduce math word problems to children - they enjoy sorting the sea creatures and won't even realize they are learning to follow the reasoning process of a math problem. Each card is fun, interactive and creates interest for children. I love how it has cards of increasing difficulty to engage different levels.
